I hit a couple of imperfections when I was shaping this pipe that went beyond what I would want in a smooth pipe, so I opted to do this rustication you see here. I am really pleased with the way it worked out, overall, because I had already been thinking of this pipe as having a rather Gothic design, anyway. So with this rustication looking so much like wrought iron, I think it tied the whole design together quite well.
