The block of briar used to make this pipe cooperated quite nicely. The grain, though not the most dramatic I have ever seen, is still well balanced. And after final shaping, there were only one or two very tiny imperfections that most people would need a magnifying glass to see. The pictures really don't do this pipe justice. It's much more impressive in person, if I do say so myself. But photographing it proved extremely difficult, due to the winding flat surfaces wanting to reflect everything in a three mile radius.
